Quickly implemented: New lighting solution for the cycle path in Stockholm

A heavily used but very narrow cycle path runs alongside the Riddarholmskanal in Stockholm. To improve conditions for cyclists and pedestrians, the city decided to widen the path. As the project is located in the heart of the historic city centre, it was also essential to preserve the existing appearance as much as possible.

In addition to a high-quality lighting solution, rapid project delivery was particularly important to the client. Thanks to efficient planning, short delivery times and swift implementation, GIFAS was able to deliver the project on schedule.

Our task was to provide atmospheric lighting for the wall running alongside the cycle path and the adjacent water feature. Stockholm had already relied on the LaneLED WALL in previous projects and has trusted in its quality and reliability for years.

The curved shape of the wall presented a particular challenge. To follow its contours as closely as possible, lights measuring 926 mm in length were used. In addition, special louvres were manufactured to elegantly cover the lights whilst preventing distracting glare for cyclists.

The installation stretches for around 110 metres. The switchgear cabinet containing the drivers was positioned centrally, so that 55 metres in each direction are fed. The use of dimmable drivers allows the light intensity to be flexibly adjusted to different times of day and requirements.

Today, cyclists and pedestrians alike benefit from improved wayfinding, enhanced safety and a high-quality aesthetic enhancement of the entire route. The new lighting concept ensures uniform illumination and improves visibility for everyone using the path.
