In order to help prevent accidents and ensure an increased level of safety,  the frequently-used public cycle path along the SBB railway had to give optimal lighting. As the place of installation had to be integrated within an existing crash barrier, the installation and particularly the level of vandal security were afforded greater significance (prevention of wilful damage).
